Sleeps Dark and Silent Gate

Sometimes I lie awake at night and wonderWhere my life will lead meWaiting to pass under Sleep's dark and silent gate
I found my love too lateRunning around day after dayLooking for the time to playWhile my old friends slipped away
Never should have had to try so hardTo make a love work out, I guessI don't know what love has got to do with happinessBut the times when we were happyWere the times we never tried
Sitting down by the highwayLooking down the roadWaiting for a rideI don't know where I've beenWishing I could fly awayDon't know where I'm goingWishing I could hideOh God this is some shape I'm inWhen the only thing that makes me cryIs the kindness in my baby's eye
Sometimes I lie awake at night and wonderWhere the years have goneThey have all passed underSleep's dark and silent gate
